New Ownership Brings Fresh Energy and Expanded Visitor Services to The Flip Flop Shops in Downtown Savannah
Tuesday, March 10th, 2026
A well-known downtown retail destination is entering an exciting new
chapter as Ronald Burris and his partner Monica Idarraga have officially taken
ownership of The Flip Flop Shops, after purchasing the business in late 2025. The new owners are bringing fresh energy, expanded services, and a strong commitment to Savannah’s business community.
Located in the heart of Savannah’s historic district near Bull Street, The Flip Flop Shops has long been a popular stop for locals and visitors looking for comfortable, high-quality flip flops and casual footwear perfect for exploring the city’s famous squares, riverfront, and coastal attractions.
Under Burris and Idarraga’s leadership, the shop is expanding its services to better support Savannah’s thriving tourism industry. In addition to its wide selection of footwear, the store now offers secure luggage storage, providing a convenient solution for travelers who want to explore the city without carrying their bags before hotel check-in or after checkout.
The shop has also partnered with Old Town Trolley Tours to offer trolley tour ticket sales directly from the store, giving visitors an easy way to book one of Savannah’s most popular sightseeing experiences while they shop or store luggage.
“We saw an opportunity to create a place that serves both locals and visitors,” said Burris. “Savannah welcomes people from all over the world, and we want to help make their experience here even better—whether that’s finding the perfect pair of flip flops, safely storing their luggage, or helping them discover the city on a trolley tour.”
The new owners are also eager to become active participants in the local business community.
“We’re excited to connect with other local businesses, get involved with community organizations, and support the events that make Savannah such a vibrant place,”Idarraga said. “Small businesses are the heart of this city, and we’re proud to now be part of that.”
To celebrate the new ownership, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held in partnership with the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. Community members, neighboring businesses, and visitors are invited to attend
and help welcome the new owners to Savannah’s downtown business community.
With a relaxed atmosphere and convenient downtown location, Burris and Idarraga hope The Flip Flop Shops will continue to be a staple for visitors and locals alike.
“Our goal is simple,” Burris added. “Provide great service, offer products people love, and be an active part of the community that makes Savannah such a special place.”
