Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Bacon Park Golf Course, O.C. Welch Golf Properties has agreed with the City of Savannah to extend its management contract for Bacon Park Golf Course, continuing an incredible relationship that has transformed the golf course and restored Bacon Park Golf Course as as the home of golf in Savannah.
O.C. Welch Golf Properties began managing Bacon Park Golf Course in 2014 and invested more than $8 million in the golf course and facilities, beginning with renovation of the golf course that returned it to the original Donald Ross design that opened in 1926. The original contract was for 12 years, and O.C. Welch Golf Properties has agreed to renew the contract with a pledge of additional support from the City of Savannah that will enable Bacon Park Golf Course to be the best it has ever been.
The restoration by renowned golf architect Richard Mandell earned the 2016 Renovation of the Year award in the public course category from Golf Inc. Magazine, and O.C. Welch Golf Properties never looked back. During the past 12 years, Bacon Park’s patrons have seen the progress on the golf course, in the Pro Shop, at the lighted driving range and everywhere else on Shorty Cooper Drive.
“Bacon Park is what you think about when you talk about golf in Savannah, and we are excited about continuing to make the golf course, the pro shop, the practice facilities and everything else first class for the thousands of people who play golf at Bacon Park,” said O.C. Welch Golf Properties president O.C. Welch. “What has already been done at Bacon Park is incredible, and we have a lot more planned. Starting celebrating the 100th anniversary of Bacon Park, an unbelievable milestone for a place that has been a home away from home for so many people over the years.”
