As communities around the world marked St. Patrick’s Day, one of the largest parades honoring the holiday took over Savannah, drawing thousands of people downtown for the city’s 202nd annual celebration.

Organizers reported more than 300 entries in this year’s parade, and the atmosphere along the route matched Savannah’s reputation — high energy, packed crowds, and plenty of green.

Attendees said the event lived up to the hype.

“We love it. Don’t tell New York, but I’d rather be here than the New York City parade any time.”
