Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, April 7th, 2026

Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is proud to announce the return of its annual Legacy of Leadership event, taking place on May 20, 2026, at the Savannah Convention Center. This signature event brings together community leaders, supporters, and changemakers to celebrate the power and impact of Girl Scout leadership across the Savannah area.

Legacy of Leadership honors the past, present, and future of Girl Scouts by recognizing individuals and organizations who are making a lasting difference in the lives of girls. As a cornerstone event for the council, it highlights the transformative impact of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and celebrates those who help girls build courage, confidence, and character.

This year, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is proud to honor Sherry Feathers, a lifelong Girl Scout whose unwavering dedication and service have left a lasting mark on the organization and the girls it serves. Her years of commitment embody the heart of Girl Scouting—building confidence, fostering leadership, and creating opportunities for young women to grow and thrive.

A highlight of the event will include a keynote address from Donna Orender—renowned executive, advocate for women and girls, and former WNBA Commissioner—whose career reflects the very values the event is designed to uplift. Her leadership in sports, business, and nonprofit spaces underscores the importance of expanding opportunities for the next generation of female leaders.

Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia extends a special thank you to VyStar Credit Union, the premier sponsor of Legacy of Leadership. Their support plays a vital role in making this event possible and in advancing opportunities for girls across our community.

Beyond celebration, Legacy of Leadership plays a vital role in supporting the mission of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia. The council proudly invests 79% of all funding directly into programming, ensuring girls across diverse backgrounds have access to enriching experiences that help them grow, lead, and thrive. Proceeds from the event directly support these efforts, making it possible to continue building strong, confident young leaders throughout the region.
