Bulloch County commissioners approved an extension of a temporary moratorium on the permitting of data centers in unincorporated Bulloch County, saying they want more time to research potential impacts and update local rules before any projects move forward.

Residents weigh in during public hearing

Several residents spoke during the public hearing Tuesday, May 5, with opinions ranging from strong support for the moratorium to calls for more information before the county makes long-term decisions.

One resident said her biggest fear is that Bulloch County will follow a path similar to other major development situations and proceed with data centers despite large public outcries and resident disapproval.
