The Housing Authority of Savannah says its regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners meeting was disrupted Tuesday by demonstrators protesting the ongoing redevelopment of Yamacraw Village.

According to HAS, repeated interruptions during the meeting led officials to adjourn the session out of concern for the safety of staff, board members, and attendees. Individuals involved in the disruption were asked to continue their demonstration outside the meeting space.

Despite the interruptions, HAS Executive Director Evette Hester delivered portions of her executive report addressing concerns surrounding the redevelopment project and what the agency described as misinformation circulating in the community.
