The Montag Gallery at the Jewish Educational Alliance is pleased
to announce the duet show “Mazel Pop!” by local artists Melody Postma and Peter Roberts, May 5-31, 2026. The SCAD alums, longtime Savannah residents, and dear friends have collaborated once again to feature new works depicting the many contributions of Jewish makers, creators and inventors that have shaped culture and lifestyles. Postma’s collage and paint works combine pop imagery and bold print to create modern nostalgia. Roberts returns to
his pop culture series of “Headcases” with over 300 heads that display Jewish creations.

Melody Postma has always been fascinated with old photographs. Her work is a multi-layered evolution of vivid color, playful shapes, textural fragments, and long forgotten photographic images of nonchalant figures. Each layer is a moment, a new thought, sometimes revealing of what came before and at other times hidden as the momentum continues. She likes to tap into the viewer's sense of self by unveiling a connectedness to a moment. While identity remains anonymous, a sensitivity to time and space takes over, simply taking you on a journey by offering snapshots of information buried along the way.

Peter Roberts is a Savannah-based mixed-media artist, pop culture creator, and director of the Location Gallery downtown. Known for his "Headcases" series and intricate paper-cut art, Roberts often works with themes of nostalgia, puns, and circus-themed imaginative scenes. He is deeply involved in the local art scene and organizing exhibits that support local nonprofits. MISSION STATEMENT OF THE JEA

The JEA serves as the meeting place for Jewish people and Savannah neighbors to build relationships with all groups concerned with enriching community life.
