The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the two-county Hinesville Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded labor force and employment gains in March, with an unemployment rate of 3.9%, down three-tenths over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.8%.
“There's no better way to mark Economic Development Week than with measurable results,” said Georgia Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “With the state labor force and employment both reaching all-time highs and unemployment falling across all metro areas, more Georgians are securing good-paying jobs that support families, build the future, and strengthen the communities they call home.”
The labor force in Hinesville increased by 138 over the month and ended at 31,771. That number decreased by 130 compared to the same time last year.
Hinesville finished March with 30,546 employed residents, up 239 over the month and down 155 from March 2025.
Hinesville ended March with 21,700 jobs. That number was unchanged over the month and decreased by 400 over the year.
In March, initial unemployment claims increased by 20 over the previous month and 28 from the same month a year ago, totaling 128.
