Metro Hinesville Records Labor Force, Employment and Job Gains in May; Unemployment at 3.6%

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the two-county Hinesville Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded labor force, employment and job gains in May, with an unemployment rate of 3.6%, up three-tenths of a percentage point over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.7%.  
 
"Every May, a new wave of talent enters Georgia's workforce as thousands of graduates begin their career search. This is what a growing talent pipeline looks like, and it is why companies keep investing here year after year,” said Georgia Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. The labor force in Hinesville increased by 161 over the month and ended at 31,787. That number increased by 347 compared to the same time last year.  

 Hinesville finished May with 30,631 employed residents, up 42 over the month and 365 from May 2025. 

 Hinesville ended May with 21,800 jobs. That number increased by 100 over the month and decreased by 200 over the year.  

 In May, initial unemployment claims decreased by 1 over the previous month and 3 from the same month a year ago, totaling 110.
