The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the two-county Hinesville Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded month-over-month gains in labor force, employment and jobs in April, with an unemployment rate of 3.3%, down six-tenths of a percentage point over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.2%.
“Georgia has always been a state that rewards hard work, and right now, hard work is paying off in a big way,” said Georgia Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “Every single metro area in this state added jobs in April, more Georgians are earning mortgage-paying paychecks, and our workforce is more skilled and competitive than ever. That is what it looks like when Georgia, a Top State for Talent, goes to work.”
The labor force in Hinesville increased by 1 over the month and ended at 31,687. That number increased by 15 compared to the same time last year.
Hinesville finished April with 30,652 employed residents, up 190 over the month and 9 from April 2025.
Hinesville ended April with 21,800 jobs. That number increased by 100 over the month and decreased by 400 over the year.
In April, initial unemployment claims decreased by 17 over the previous month and 31 from the same month a year ago, totaling 111.
