SOS Announces Primary Risk Limiting Audit Confirms Accurate Vote Count
Thursday, June 4th, 2026
Beginning last Thursday, county election officials in all of Georgia’s 159 counties hand counted randomly selected ballots as part of the statewide audit of the May 19th General Primary and Nonpartisan General Election. The purpose of the audit was to confirm the accuracy of the results for the Republican US Senate and Democratic Governor’s races. This was the first time two races were selected for the statewide Risk Limiting Audit (RLA).
A risk limit of 5% was set for the risk limiting audit (RLA), a limit that is among the best in the country for jurisdictions that conduct RLAs.
Secretary Raffensperger is pleased to announce that the audit confirmed the outcome of the contests.
Overall, 706 batches were counted. Among the hand-counted results, there was over 99% alignment with the machine count, which is well within the expected margin of error for hand count.
Below is a comparison of the vote totals for each candidate for the batches that were audited:
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger praised county election directors for their work.
“The results of this audit are a testament to the dedication and precision of our local election officials across all of Georgia’s 159 counties,” Secretary Raffensperger said. “Our election officials have once again provided the public with clear, verifiable confirmation of the election outcomes.”
