City of Savannah 2nd District Alderman Detric Leggett has been named to the board of directors for Inspiritus, formerly Lutheran Services of Georgia.
The Atlanta-based nonprofit, which recently announced Leggett’s appointment, was formed in 2019 when Lutheran Services of Georgia and Lutheran Services in Tennessee joined forces to create the nonprofit with a name that means, "to fill with courage and strength."
Alderman Leggett, a native Savannahian, civil servant, and healthcare industry veteran, has been employed with HCA Memorial Health University Medical Center for more than 25 years. In addition to his duties as alderman and healthcare professional, he serves as chairman of Chatham Area Transit (CAT) and chairman of Evana’s Loving Alms, Inc., a Savannah-based non-profit organization providing support and resources for single mothers and their families.
“Inspiritus is a leading regional nonprofit. Detric’s appointment is an example of how living, working, thriving, and serving the needs of Savannahians translates into service to those beyond our city’s borders,” said Mayor Van R. Johnson, II.
“Inspiritus has seen a significant increase in the need for our services in recent years,” said John R. Moeller, Jr., president and CEO of Inspiritus. “We are excited to welcome Detric as the board works with us to fulfill our mission of guiding individuals and families on a path from surviving to thriving.”
The appointment of Detric Leggett to the Board of Directors takes effect immediately.
