The Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus announced a special guest will join two upcoming concerts happening this October.

Cosette Justo Valdés will guest conduct the Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4 performances of Beethoven’s Fifth at the historic Lucas Theatre for the Arts.

Originally from Cuba, Valdés currently serves as the artistic and music director of the Vancouver Island Symphony in British Columbia. Internationally, she has been invited to lead major orchestras around the world and been recognized for her energetic, passionate and intense performances, according to a press release for the Savannah Philharmonic.
