Savannah Scholars has extended its application deadline to July 15 for students who just completed eighth grade.

The nonprofit provides free college preparation and support to high-achieving, low-income Chatham County high school students. The program includes mentorship, college visits, SAT and ACT test preparation, workshops and financial literacy training.

Nancy Baker, founder of Savannah Scholars, said the program helps students find a path to college.

“Talent is everywhere in Savannah, but opportunity is not,” Baker said. “Our goal is to help academically promising students, regardless of income, find a path to college while giving them the support to reach it.”
