Live Oak Public Library announces another record-breaking Summer Reading Program, with 6,712 participants of all ages reading together in June and July.

The number of participants increased nearly 9% over last year and together, the community read an amazing 4.474 million minutes, far exceeding the 3-million-minute goal Live Oak set.

The Summer Reading Program runs annually from June 1st through July 31st. Participants read and log 600 minutes for a completion prize and to enter a grand prize drawing. Many readers far exceeded the 600-minute goal this year.

During Summer Reading, patrons enjoyed hundreds of free, enriching and engaging programs held at LOPL's 13 circulating branches and nearly 2,000 people attended one of six free Summer Reading Kick Off Parties held June 6th.

Also during June and July, Live Oak Public Library served 4,221 free, nutritious meals to children up to age 18 at seven branches across Chatham and Liberty Counties in partnership with America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia.

Next week, LOPL will reveal the identities of its second annual Brand Ambassadors for September's National Library Card Sign Up Month celebration, and announce special programs and community events to encourage new patrons to discover all that their public library has to offer.
