A future-ready workforce begins in our local classrooms—and building that workforce is a community-wide responsibility.

Last week, teams from the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, RISE, and the Chatham Educational Alliance joined more than 200 community partners, businesses, and volunteers for a meeting hosted by the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS).

The gathering highlighted the district’s 2026–2031 Strategic Plan, “Unlimited Possibilities,” and reinforced an important message: schools cannot prepare the next generation alone.

Chamber members can help by mentoring students, supporting career exploration, offering internships, and volunteering through SCCPSS programs such as VISTA, which connects community volunteers with schools to provide students with encouragement, mentorship, and support.

Business professionals bring valuable real-world experience into the classroom while helping students build confidence and better understand local career opportunities.

Preparing tomorrow’s workforce requires parents, educators, businesses, and the entire community to work together.
