A collaborative effort between local nonprofit leaders, design professionals,
community partners, and Alair Savannah has transformed an underutilized space into a vibrant new learning environment for Savannah's youth. The partners will celebrate the completion of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) Spot for Kidz with a ribbon cutting and building blessing on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The community is invited to attend the celebration, which will include a ceremonial ribbon cutting, blessing of the building, light bites, and mocktails as guests tour the transformed space designed to inspire learning, creativity, and opportunity for Savannah's youth.

The renovation reflects a shared commitment to investing in local families and creating opportunities for future generations. Alair Savannah contributed reduced fees and discounted hourly rates throughout the project, resulting in an in-kind donation valued at more than $47,000. 

The project was designed in partnership with Greenline Architecture, led by architect Monica Mastriani, who also serves on the Wesley Community Centers Board of Directors. Wesley Community Centers staff and leadership played an integral role in conceptualizing the space, helping create an environment specifically tailored to the needs and aspirations of the children and families it serves.

"By bringing together local expertise, community support, and a shared commitment to creating opportunities for young people, we were able to help create a space that will support learning, creativity, and growth for years to come.”

Located in a neighborhood that holds special significance for both organizations, the project reflects a deep commitment to community investment. Wesley Community Centers is situated in the same area where Alair Savannah maintains its office and where Greenline Architecture was previously located, further strengthening the local connection behind the collaboration.

Under the leadership of Director Tammy Mixon-Calderon, the S.T.E.A.M. Spot for Kidz will provide students with opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through engaging programs and hands-on learning experiences.

The completion of the renovation marks an important milestone in Wesley Community Centers' broader efforts to enhance programming and resources for local families. An ongoing capital campaign continues to support the organization's future growth and long-term vision for serving Savannah's children and neighborhoods.
