Governor Brian Kemp has suspended Georgia’s motor fuel tax for 30 days, beginning September 29 and running through October 29. The suspension removes the state excise tax of 33.3 cents per gallon on gasoline and 37.3 cents per gallon on diesel during that period.

The temporary break could provide some relief for Chamber members, including transportation companies, contractors, hospitality businesses, and small businesses with vehicles on the road each day, on their fuel expenses. Pump prices may still change as fuel markets fluctuate, so businesses should continue to watch their costs when planning routes, deliveries, and budgets.
