Liberty County Native Brings His Industrial Engineering Experience Home

The Liberty County Development Authority (LCDA) is pleased to announce the addition of Liberty County native Jamal McIver as its new Director of Assets, Infrastructure & Capital Projects, bringing more than 14 years of engineering, project management, industrial operations, and maintenance experience to the organization.
For McIver, the new role is also an opportunity to bring that experience home and contribute directly to the continued improvement of the community that helped shape him.
“Jamal brings an exceptional combination of technical expertise, industrial experience and familiarity with Liberty County,” said Brynn Grant, Chief Executive Officer of LCDA. “As LCDA continues making significant investments in our industrial parks and infrastructure, having someone with Jamal’s experience managing complex capital projects and working directly within industrial environments will be a tremendous asset to our organization and, most importantly, to the businesses and community we serve.”
McIver most recently served as a Senior Design Engineer with Solenis in Savannah. Prior to that, he served as Capital Project Engineer at International Paper/DS Smith’s Interstate Paper facility in Riceboro, where he managed capital projects ranging from $300,000 to $6 million from initial business justification through installation and startup. His career also includes engineering and management positions with Gulfstream Aerospace, Vopak Terminal Savannah, and SNF Holding Company.
In his new role, McIver will oversee LCDA-owned buildings, industrial sites, and infrastructure systems; coordinate maintenance and long-term asset planning; manage capital improvement projects; and work with engineers, contractors, regulatory agencies and other partners on infrastructure and site development initiatives. He will also help ensure LCDA’s industrial properties remain well-maintained, development-ready,, and positioned to support both existing industries and future investment.
McIver earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Georgia Southern University and holds an API 653 certification from the American Petroleum Institute, along with additional training in maintenance planning, scheduling, and construction safety.
The addition of McIver further strengthens LCDA’s capacity to manage the infrastructure and physical assets that underpin economic development in Liberty County. His work will support LCDA’s ongoing commitment to maintaining high-quality industrial parks, delivering strategic infrastructure investments, and creating an environment where established industries and new businesses can succeed.
