Optim Health System Honors DAISY and BEE Award Recipients for Exceptional Compassion and Service

Optim Health System is proud to announce its latest DAISY and BEE Award recipients, recognized through nominations from patients, family members and coworkers who experienced firsthand their exceptional compassion, dedication and commitment to service. The awards honor team members whose actions reflect Optim's mission of delivering outstanding care and creating positive experiences for patients and colleagues alike.

DAISY Award Recipient: Daniel Sayles, RN

Optim Medical Center-Tattnall

Daniel Sayles, RN, was nominated by a patient's family member who shared a heartfelt account of the care he provided during a hospital visit.

According to the nomination, Daniel demonstrated exceptional compassion from the moment the patient arrived, treating both the patient and family member "like actual family." The nominator praised Daniel for going above and beyond to meet their needs and for helping ease anxiety through meaningful conversation and genuine kindness.

"I've never been in any doctor's office or hospital or anywhere for that matter and been treated so genuinely nice," the nominator wrote. "He deserves recognition. You don't come across people like this but once in a lifetime.”

BEE Award Recipient: LaDonna Scott, MA

LaDonna Scott, MA, received the BEE Award after being nominated by a patient's family member who witnessed her professionalism and dedication while caring for a loved one following total knee replacement surgery.

The nomination highlighted LaDonna's attentiveness, clinical expertise and patience as she assisted the patient through recovery challenges. When the patient experienced nausea and difficulty walking after anesthesia, LaDonna responded quickly and professionally, ensuring the patient's safety and comfort while coordinating care with the nursing team.

Beyond her clinical support, LaDonna took time to thoroughly explain the patient's plan of care and recovery expectations after discharge.

"LaDonna was very patient. She treated my mother-in-law like she was a family member and listened to us," the nominator shared. "She was a joy to have."

BEE Award Recipient: Brandi Collins

Brandi Collins was nominated by a coworker for her unwavering commitment to teamwork, patient service and excellence.

According to the nomination, Brandi consistently goes above and beyond in her role, readily supporting coworkers, assisting patients and stepping in wherever needed to ensure a positive experience for everyone she encounters.

The nominator praised Brandi's professionalism, compassion and positive attitude, noting that her dedication creates a welcoming and supportive environment for both patients and team members.

"Brandi embodies the spirit of the BEE Award through her outstanding service, teamwork and commitment to our organization's values," the nomination stated. "She is truly deserving of this recognition.”
