Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, September 18th, 2026

Salt Marsh Pediatric Therapy is inviting families, healthcare professionals and community members to celebrate the grand opening of its new, expanded Savannah clinic during a special Open House on Thursday, September 24, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at 224 Stephenson Ave., Suite A.

The open house will give guests an opportunity to tour the new clinic, meet the Salt Marsh Pediatric Therapy team and learn more about the specialized services available to children and families throughout Savannah, Coastal Georgia and the Lowcountry. Guests will also have the chance to meet the practice’s newest team member, Speech-Language Pathologist Brooke Barendsen, M.S., CCC-SLP, and learn more about the addition of pediatric speech therapy services.

“We’re so excited to open our doors and welcome the community into our new space,” said Julie Joyner Talbot, PT, DPT, PCS, Founder and Owner of Salt Marsh Pediatric Therapy. “This clinic represents an important next step for Salt Marsh and, most importantly, gives us more opportunities to serve children and families close to home. We hope families, providers and community members will stop by, meet our team and see firsthand what we have to offer.”

Founded with a mission to bring specialized pediatric intensive physical therapy to Savannah and the surrounding Lowcountry, Salt Marsh Pediatric Therapy provides individualized, evidence-based care for children with mobility and developmental challenges. Its intensive therapy programs use concentrated, goal-focused treatment to help children build strength, mobility, independence and confidence.

The move to a larger clinic allows Salt Marsh Pediatric Therapy to offer additional treatment space, specialized equipment and room to continue expanding its multidisciplinary services. The practice has also recently added pediatric speech-language pathology, providing families with greater access to coordinated therapy services in one location.

Barendsen brings experience treating medically complex pediatric and adult populations across hospital and rehabilitation settings. Her clinical background includes evaluating and treating speech, language, cognitive-communication, swallowing and feeding disorders while working alongside interdisciplinary care teams.

“I’m excited to be part of the Salt Marsh team and to have the opportunity to meet more of the families we serve at the open house,” said Barendsen. “Adding speech therapy alongside intensive physical therapy gives us another way to support children’s communication, feeding and developmental goals while working closely with their families.”

Salt Marsh Pediatric Therapy serves children from birth through age 21, including children with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, developmental delays, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, chromosomal disorders, prematurity, spinal cord injuries, torticollis and other neurological and orthopedic conditions.

The Grand Opening & Open House is an opportunity for current and prospective families, referring providers and community partners to get to know the Salt Marsh team in a relaxed setting, explore the new facility and learn how the practice’s physical and speech therapy services can support children at different stages of development.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the families and community partners who have supported Salt Marsh and trusted us with their children’s care,” Talbot added. “This open house is as much a celebration of them as it is of our new space. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone in and celebrating this next chapter together.”
