Savannah Building Futures Inc., a non-profit based in Savannah, Georgia, announces its fourth annual Iron Sharpens Iron: Beyond the Ordinary conference on September 19, 2026, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at St. Philip Monumental AME on 1112 Jefferson Street in Savannah.

“We are excited once again to be offering this day for our local youth”, said Jerome Irwin, Founder and Executive Director of Savannah Building Futures. “The event is free and open to young men in our community who wish to come together and imagine their future as something that is beyond the ordinary. We also welcome men of all ages who are interested in being a part of our mentorship program-everyone can give.”

In addition to connecting under-represented youth in Savannah and the region with well-paying apprenticeships in the trades, Savannah Building Futures focuses on a wholistic approach including career coaching, financial literacy classes and life-skills development classes, offered in collaboration with other non-profit partners in the region.

“A vital part of our program is education,” said Mr. Irwin. “We directly recruit and work with young people from underserved and under-represented communities in Savannah and our region and place them in skilled apprenticeship programs to prepare them for a well-paying career. Iron

The day will include breakfast and lunch, inspirational talks by area leaders, educational sessions about the labor market in our region and networking opportunities.
