The City of Savannah’s renovation of community tennis courts at historic Forsyth Park is completed.

As part of the City’s Recreation Reimagined Initiative and funded through the FY2026 Capital Improvement Program (CIP), deteriorated courts, fencing, and site amenities were replaced, as well as new asphalt pavement and sport-specific surfacing installed. Such upgrades are engineered to improve safety, playability, and overall user experience. Additionally, the improvements deliver a durable, long-term solution for residents and visitors who rely on the facility.

City officials were intentional in scheduling construction during summer months, a timeline that minimized disruption to regular programming and recreational play while enabling the project to be completed efficiently. Construction began in June and was completed on September 25, 2026. A competitive bidding process was conducted, and the contract was awarded to Edwards Construction Group, a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), in an amount not to exceed $363,081.

The tennis courts are open from dawn to 9 p.m. with lighted hours from 6 – 9 p.m. seven days a week. Reservations for play may be made by contacting the Bacon Park Tennis Center 912-351-3850, or by visiting savannahga.gov.
