Local youth are stepping up to support young survivors of human trafficking in the Savannah area.

Tharros Place, a Savannah-based nonprofit that provides residential care and services for girls aged 12 to 17 who have survived human trafficking, has announced its newest Teen Board members. The board is made up of local high school students who work to raise awareness and plan normalcy-building events for the home’s residents, such as the Sneaker Ball and Spring Formal.

“We started the Teen Board because we wanted input from Chatham County youth about what youth are interested in,” said Julie Wade, Executive Director of Tharros Place. “It’s really inspirational to see Savannah-area teens working so hard to support others in their community.”
