Thomas & Hutton (T&H), a privately held and employee-owned professional services firm known for its award-winning culture and 80 years of shaping communities across the Southeast, is proud to announce its recognition as a 2026 PSMJ Building a Better World Award honoree. The national award celebrates architecture, engineering, and construction firms that go beyond project delivery to make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.

T&H's culture of giving back traces back to founders Hue Thomas and Joe Hutton, who established service to community as a core value nearly 80 years ago. Today, the firm carries that commitment forward through corporate charitable giving, employee fundraising, volunteer service, and long-standing partnerships with nonprofit organizations across its 19 offices.

In 2025, T&H contributed $356,797 in corporate charitable giving, while employees raised an additional $35,613 through Jeans Day Fridays and pledged $52,766 through United Way campaigns. These efforts supported nonprofits, community initiatives, disaster relief, youth programs, food insecurity programs, and employees and families facing hardship.

T&H employees also give their time through the firm's Helping Hands volunteer program. In 2025, employees completed 32 service projects totaling 538 volunteer hours. Through 2026 year-to-date, that effort has grown to 44 projects and 682 volunteer hours, as teams work toward completing 80 community service projects across the Southeast in celebration of T&H's 80th anniversary. Volunteer activities include Habitat for Humanity builds, community cleanups, literacy initiatives, STEM mentorship, donation drives, and meal preparation for families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Employee-led fundraisers, including Office Olympics, chili cook-offs, and the T&H Amateurs golf fundraiser, further extend the firm's community impact by supporting organizations such as Make-A-Wish, First Tee, Second Harvest, CURE Childhood Cancer, Savannah AMBUCS, Atlanta Angels, and others.

The recognition comes during T&H's 80th anniversary year and reflects a culture of service that continues to grow alongside the firm. Through corporate giving, employee-led fundraising, and hands-on volunteerism, T&H continues the commitment to community established by its founders while creating new opportunities for employees to make an impact across the Southeast.
