Georgia Gas Prices Ease, But Remain Elevated

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, October 27th, 2026

Georgia gas prices continue to decline, providing some relief at the pump, though prices remain relatively high. The suspension of the state gas tax, the transition to lower-cost winter-blend gasoline and reduced seasonal travel demand are helping push prices down. However, elevated crude oil prices continue to put upward pressure on fuel costs, limiting the savings drivers may see at the pump. The state average currently sits at $3.65 per gallon, subject to overnight changes.

“Georgians are seeing some relief at the pump, with prices averaging 63 cents below the national average,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “While seasonal factors are helping push prices lower, drivers can save even more by comparing prices, using fuel rewards and combining errands.”

Compared to recent benchmarks:

  • 8 cents lower than last week

  • 51 cents lower than last month

  • 86 cents higher than last year

For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, the cost is approximately $54.75.

National Gas Prices Pause as Crude Oil Climbs

The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline slipped just 1 cent this week to $4.28, as relief at the pump continues to slow. While the transition to lower-cost winter-blend gasoline is helping keep prices in check, crude oil prices above $100 per barrel continue to put upward pressure on fuel costs. As a result, October is on track to become the most expensive October on record for the national average, following record-setting prices in August and September.
