Goodwill Southeast Georgia Invests $25,600 in Transportation Assistance Through United Way Partnership

Goodwill Southeast Georgia is investing $25,670.33 in United Way of the Coastal Empire's Women United Transportation Fund through its Change Round-Up for Transportation campaign, a customer-supported initiative designed to help individuals and families overcome transportation barriers and access greater economic opportunity.
The investment was made possible through the generosity of Goodwill shoppers who chose to round up their purchases during Goodwill Southeast Georgia's Change Round-Up for Transportation campaign. Combined with a matching contribution from Goodwill Southeast Georgia, the funds will support the Women United Transportation Fund, administered by United Way of the Coastal Empire, which provides critical transportation assistance to low-income women and caregivers throughout the region.
Serving residents across Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, Liberty, and Long counties, the fund helps cover essential transportation expenses such as gas cards, bus passes, ride-share fares, and minor vehicle repairs. This targeted support helps individuals overcome transportation barriers and maintain access to employment, education, healthcare, job training, and other essential services. Reliable transportation is often the difference between securing a job, completing a training program, keeping a medical appointment, or missing an opportunity altogether.
"Transportation is often one of the greatest barriers standing between individuals and economic opportunity," said Jason Marshall, President and CEO of Goodwill Southeast Georgia. "A job offer, a training opportunity, or a healthcare appointment can only change a life if someone can get there. The Women United Transportation Fund helps address that challenge directly, and we are proud to partner with United Way of the Coastal Empire to help remove barriers and create pathways to long-term success."
Transportation was the focus of Goodwill Southeast Georgia's third-quarter Change Round-Up campaign, one of four annual initiatives designed to address key barriers to economic mobility in the region: food security, education, transportation, and childcare.
“We are very grateful to Goodwill Southeast Georgia for this generous investment in the Women United Transportation Fund and for trusting United Way to put these funds to work where they are needed most,” said Kimberly Waller, President and CEO of United Way of the Coastal Empire. “Our partnership continues to grow stronger, and we’re proud to work alongside Goodwill. This contribution will make a meaningful difference across our five-county region, and we’re thankful to Goodwill and its generous shoppers for making it possible.”
So far in 2026, Goodwill Southeast Georgia has invested more than $75,000 in local nonprofits, schools, and community organizations through its Change Round-Up campaigns and plans to invest an additional $25,000 through future campaigns before year-end. These investments reflect Goodwill Southeast Georgia's ongoing commitment to removing barriers to opportunity and strengthening communities across Southeast Georgia.
