Savannah-Chatham BOE Celebrates New Chief of Police

The Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education Police Department (BOEPD) will hold a pinning ceremony to recognize Dr. George Washington as Chief of Police. Chief Washington will be pinned by his wife, Cheryl. 

Chief Washington was sworn in on October 1, and this ceremony will mark his first formal address of his command.  Chief Washington brings more than 30 years of law enforcement, military, and executive leadership experience to the role. A retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and former law enforcement leader with both the Savannah and Atlanta police departments, he will lead BOEPD's efforts to maintain safe learning environments and strengthen partnerships with students, staff, families, and the community. The event will be followed by a reception.
