Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) has once again earned national recognition for academic excellence in the newly released 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Elementary and Middle Schools rankings, securing top positions among public schools in Savannah-Chatham County and charter schools throughout Georgia.

SCA earned the No. 1 ranking among Savannah-Chatham County elementary schools and No. 2 among Savannah-Chatham County middle schools. At the state level, SCA was ranked No. 1 among Georgia charter elementary schools and No. 4 among Georgia charter middle schools.

The rankings highlight SCA's continued commitment to providing a rigorous, high-quality education to students in Chatham County. The latest recognition builds on the school's previous U.S. News distinctions, further establishing SCA as a leading educational institution locally and statewide.

"These outstanding results reflect the dedication of our teachers and staff, the hard work of our students and the support of our families,” said SCA CEO Barry Lollis. “At Savannah Classical Academy, we believe every child deserves access to an exceptional education, and these rankings reinforce the success of our classical approach to teaching and learning. We look forward to continuing to build on this success.”

U.S. News & World Report released its 2027 Best Elementary and Middle Schools rankings on October 20, evaluating approximately 46,000 public elementary schools and more than 24,000 public middle schools nationwide. Schools are ranked at the state and district levels, with separate statewide rankings for charter schools.

The rankings assess student achievement in mathematics and reading/language arts using state assessment data while accounting for student demographics. The 2027 methodology incorporates expanded data collected directly from state education agencies by RTI International, along with information from the U.S. Department of Education, to provide a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance.

Savannah Classical Academy is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school serving students throughout Chatham County. Founded in 2013, SCA provides a rigorous, content-rich classical education designed to develop students' academic potential, civic virtue and moral character. Through a traditional curriculum emphasizing academic excellence, perseverance and personal responsibility, the school prepares students to become knowledgeable, engaged and responsible members of their communities.
