Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, October 20th, 2026

The City of Tybee Island invites residents and visitors to take to the skies for a good cause at the Tybee Island Kite Festival on Saturday, November 7, from noon to 3 p.m. at North Beach. This community event will bring families, friends, and visitors together for an afternoon of kite flying, coastal fun, and fundraising for Parkinson’s research.

Registration will take place from 11 a.m. to noon, giving participants time to get ready before the festival begins. A suggested donation of $10 includes a kite, while supplies last, and a cup of gumbo from North Beach Bar & Grill.

The festival offers a fun way for the community to come together while supporting an important cause.

Participants can bring family and friends, enjoy the ocean breeze, and watch the sky fill with colorful kites along Tybee’s beautiful coastline.

The City extends its appreciation to the event’s community partners, the Tybee Island Marine Science Center, North Beach Bar & Grill, and The Irritable Pelican, for helping make the festival possible.

As part of the Kite Festival festivities, the community is invited to a free kite-building workshop on Sunday, November 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. Participants will create their own kites using sustainable, recycled materials, combining creativity with a focus on environmental stewardship.

The workshop is free, but advance registration is required, and space may be limited. Register today!

“Community events like the Kite Festival are a wonderful opportunity to bring people together for a shared purpose,” said Bret Bell, City Manager “We look forward to seeing residents and visitors enjoy an afternoon on North Beach while supporting Parkinson’s research.”
