Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) CEO and Executive Director Larry Hanson has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities Risk Information Sharing Consortium (NLC-RISC) for the 2026–2027 term. The appointment took place during the 2026 NLC-RISC Staff Conference.

Through its work with municipalities across the country, NLC-RISC provides a forum for sharing knowledge and strengthening the risk management resources available to local governments.

“Larry’s appointment reflects his longstanding commitment to municipal government and the communities we serve,” said Randy Logan, GMA Deputy Director. “Throughout his career, he has demonstrated the value of collaboration, strong relationships and bringing people together around shared priorities. We are pleased to see him continue that work through his service on the NLC-RISC Board of Directors.”

Hanson brings more than two decades of municipal leadership experience to the board, including more than 22 years as City Manager of Valdosta before joining GMA. He is a past president of the Georgia City-County Management Association and has served on the National League of Cities Board of Directors and its Executive Committee. He currently serves on the NLC Audit Committee.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the NLC-RISC Board of Directors. Cities may look different from one another, but many face similar challenges. There is tremendous value in bringing municipal leaders together to share ideas, learn from one another and find solutions that strengthen our communities. I look forward to being part of those conversations and representing Georgia’s cities,” said Hanson.
