Historic Savannah Foundation (HSF) has announced the results of its nationwide search for a new permanent President & CEO. After careful deliberation, the search committee, together with the board of trustees, unanimously determined that Interim Executive Director, Sue Adler should be appointed to lead the 65-year- old non-profit organization. Adler is the leader HSF requires to ensure it works with the entire community to fulfill Historic Savannah Foundation’s mission to save buildings, places and stories that define Savannah’s past, present, and future.

Formerly HSF’s Chief Mission Officer, Adler has worked as Interim Executive Director of the organization since the Summer of 2019 after the departure of Daniel Carey.   She is an experienced nonprofit professional who specializes in community engagement, communications and fundraising. She has many professional accomplishments in the local community including establishing Savannah’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and fighting for Savannah’s tiniest citizens as Executive Director of the Savannah Chapter of the March of Dimes. Adler also directed community outreach events for Savannah’s Memorial Hospital, launching unique programs for the community. She is a resident of Skidaway Island who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Goucher College and a Master of Arts in elementary education and teaching from the University of South Carolina – Beaufort. She has served on several community boards; currently: The Matthew Reardon Center for Autism and the Savannah Chapter of Hadassah.

Adler leads an accomplished team at HSF including Director of Development, Megan Kerley, Director of Special Events and Programs, Nadine Mooers, Historic Preservationist and Historic Properties Manager, Ryan Arvay, and Davenport House Museum Director, Jamie Credle.
