Georgia Ports Set to Exceed 4.6M TEUs

The Georgia Ports Authority is on track to exceed 4.6 million twenty-foot equivalent container units for the first time in a calendar year. That level of trade would be a 14 percent increase over volumes moved through Savannah just three years ago, or an additional 550,000 TEUs. Over the same period, the Authority has increased the annual capacity at the Port of Savannah from 5 million to 5.5 million TEUs.

Alfred Jackson “Jay” Powell passed away last week at the too young age of 67. He was perhaps one of the most powerful people in Georgia that you may never have heard of. Powell was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2008 representing his home county of Mitchell along with portions of Decatur and Colquitt counties. He served as Mayor of Camilla Georgia for the decade prior to his service in the House.

University System of Georgia Enrollment Increases to Record High

The headcount enrollment for the 26 institutions of the University System of Georgia in Fall 2019 was 333,507, representing an increase of 1.5 percent (4,795 students) over the Fall 2018 enrollment of 328,712, according to USG’s Fall 2019 Semester Enrollment Report.

Georgia Receives Top Business Ranking for Record-Breaking Seventh Straight Year
