Artist and designer Lisa D. Watson will present an exhibition of seven bridges from around the Savannah area in City Transversed at the City Hall Rotunda, July 6 – December 31, 2015. These wall pieces are made with 90% reclaimed materials. 

Watson has been fascinated with bridges and the eco systems around them since she was a child. These works are unrestricted from traditional 2D designs. Watson uses reclaimed materials as much as possible whether it is recycled wood, metal, fabric or paper. On display will be the I-95 - Savannah River Bridge, CSX - Savannah River Bridge, the Houlihan Bridge, the Talmadge Memorial Bridge, Factors Walk, RRX - Henry Street and Islands Expressway Bascule Bridge.

“Bridges have so many perspective points that a solid square or rectangular format would seem contrived,” says Watson.

While researching and photographing Savannah bridges, she found something astounding; wildlife and sound. “My most unexpectedly admired bridge is one millions of people cross annually; the I-95 Bridge over the Savannah River. Weirdly, this extension is on the website Uglybridges.com. Well, “they” might think differently if they experienced the flora, alligators, birds and their songs that exist underneath. It’s purely magical,” says Watson. 

Since 1992, Watson has been freelancing as an eco-conscious artist, designer and film production art director. She has created commissioned residential and commercial murals in several cities. Besides her scenic work on such projects as the Academy Awards, and Fox Kids Network, she has art-directed many infomercials and videos. Lisa owns Plan It Green Design in Savannah.
