GDOL to Help State Prison Recruit Correctional Officers in Savannah Friday

The Georgia Department of Labor will help Coastal State Prison hire about 80 correctional officers for its facility in Garden City.

The recruitment will be held Friday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the GDOL’s Savannah Career Center, 5520 White Bluff Road. The recruitment is a continuation of its previous recruiting event held in May.  

Veterans are encouraged to apply. Salaries range from $24,322 to $26,754, based on experience, as well as the number of years the applicant served in the military.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. And, they should bring copies of their resume, high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), birth certificate and U.S. Social Security card to the recruitment. Veterans should bring their U.S. Department of Defense DD214 form to the event.

Prior to the recruitment, job seekers must take the COMPASS/SAT/ACT or ASSET assessment test at Savannah Technical College and bring the test results to the recruitment. The test costs $25. Jobseekers may apply online at www.gdcjobs.com prior to the recruitment.

A pre-employment background check, drug-screening and physical fitness test for selected applicants will be conducted by the employer.
