Hussey Gay Bell Names Kevin Strickland Managing Director of Columbia Operations

Hussey Gay Bell announces Mr. Kevin Strickland as Managing Director for its Columbia office which has been in operation since 1987 in the heart of the state's capital - located in the Armory Building at 1219 Assembly Street.

An engineering and site development veteran, Mr. Strickland has nearly 30 years of experience including the design, planning, permitting and project management of water/wastewater treatment plants, wastewater collection systems, water distribution systems, transportation systems and site development for clients throughout the Carolinas including the City of Columbia, Gilbert Summit Rural Water District, Dorchester County, North Charleston Sewer District, Utilities Inc., and Marlboro Water Company.  Of unique note, Mr. Strickland has been involved in greenhouse gas emissions reduction and industrial pre-treatment projects throughout North and South America and South Africa.  As a direct result of his work, over 400 digesters were built throughout the country of Mexico to remove greenhouse gas emissions from wastewater plants under the Kyoto Protocol. 

As Managing Director, Mr. Strickland will be responsible for overall management of operations, executive strategy development and execution, contractual negotiations, resource allocation and overall client management.  Mr. Strickland's long-term, established relationships and thought leadership in water/wastewater, transportation and site development will be instrumental in the firm's growth strategy in the Columbia region.

In addition to overall managerial and business development duties, Mr. Strickland is currently overseeing Hussey Gay Bell's surveying and utility coordination services efforts for the Richland County Program Development Team (PDT) contract - a $1 billion penny sales tax program approved in November 2012 by Richland County voters.  Career projects of note include:  numerous City of Columbia SSES projects, I&I Study in the Otranto and Little Basins for North Charleston Sewer District, Calhoun County "Dirt to Pave" Transportation C-Fund Program, Radium Removal from Drinking Wells for both Gilbert Summit Rural Water District and Utilities, Inc., and the Slaughterhouse Wastewater Treatment Facility in Mexico City, Mexico for Environmental Fabrics, Inc.

A native of Scranton, South Carolina, Mr. Strickland is a licensed professional engineer holding registration in South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering degree from Clemson University.  Mr. Strickland enjoys working with youth in his community.  He presently serves in his church as a Royal Ambassador leader and regularly volunteers for speaking engagements to engineering and science classes within Lexington School District Two. Prior to joining Hussey Gay Bell, Mr. Strickland served in executive leadership roles, including Columbia Water & Sewer Program Manager, for other firms in the Columbia region including Strickland Engineering, Inc., which he founded in 2004. 

Mr. Strickland is a member of Trinity Baptist Church.  He enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly and their three children, Grant, Rachel and Elise.
