Telfair Museums joins Savannah Magazine for a decade-themed celebration of the 1990s on Friday, July 10 at 6:30 pm at the Jepson Center for the Arts. The party is $5 per person, with free hors d'oeuvres provided by the Jepson Café and a cash bar for beer and wine.

Savannah Magazine, the city’s own child of the 90s, is celebrating their 25th anniversary by co-hosting the party. For 25 years, Savannah Magazine has engaged and inspired their readers with a true vision of the region’s evolving lifestyle.

Party guests are invited to see the Jepson Center’s newest exhibition, Come As You Are: Art of the 1990s. DJ Phong Dang will spin retro 90s hits, while guests relax in the “Den of Slack” provided by Savannah Vintage Rentals. Guests can “grunge-ify” themselves with a 90s clothing and accessory station by Orange PR and Socially Yours for a photo opportunity. The party also features a film screening of a 90s classic, and to top it off, guests have the opportunity to get a first look at Savannah Magazine’s 25th-anniversary cover contest.

“We’re all slackers in the Slow-vannah summer,” said Savannah Magazine Editor Annabelle Carr. “So let’s celebrate the ‘do-nothing’ decade with great art, throwback music, and a classic film. This partnership with Telfair Museums is one of many fun ways we’re celebrating our 25th anniversary.”

Come As You Are is a groundbreaking show that marks the first attempt to celebrate and historicize art made in the United States during the 1990s. While the 1990s are somewhat considered the recent past, the exhibition brings to light the continuing relevance of its themes and highlights the ways in which art of the 90s paved the way for art today.

“While humorous, quirky, and sure to evoke 90s nostalgia, the works in this show also capture the tensions and alternative culture of this pivotal decade,” said Lisa Grove, Telfair Museums’ director and CEO. “We’re really excited to revisit the period with Savannah Magazine for a party that’s sure to be fun.”
