Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Wednesday, August 19th, 2015

Savannah radio stations 98.7 The River and WTKS News Radio 97.7 FM and 1290 AM will present Savannah’s third annual Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon to benefit The Children's Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center. The radiothon will feature inspiring stories of hope and healing from local families. Listeners will have an opportunity to donate to The Children's Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center. Featured hosts will be morning radio personalities Murphy, Sam, and Jodi, along with Bill Edwards, Laura Anderson, and Mark Robertson, broadcasting live from the main lobby at MUMC.

The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon will air from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 20 and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, August 21.

Last year, the radiothon raised $60,000. Because of this generous support from listeners, The Children’s Hospital has been  able to purchase a variety of needed items such as special neonatal scales to weigh the tiniest babies and new rocking chairs so moms and dads have a comfortable place to sit while holding their hospitalized child.

The Children’s Hospital at MUMC is the only children’s hospital in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. It provides a full spectrum of healthcare services and programs, including a Level III neonatal intensive care nursery, pediatric intensive care units, a pediatric emergency room, a hematology/oncology program, outpatient services, and physical, occupational, and speech-language therapies. Last year, The Children’s Hospital treated more than 70,000 children in its outpatient programs and admitted more than 4,300 children to hospital.
