Leopold's Ice Cream Birthday Block Party Scheduled for August 15th

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Monday, August 10th, 2015

The dancers are ready, the Savannah Children’s Choir is in tune, the DIRTT Kid’s Zone is stocked with fun and the Birthday Cake Ice Cream has been lovingly made.  That can only mean one thing … Birthday Block Party time at Leopold’s Ice Cream!

Come help us celebrate 96 years of Tasty Memories! Join us at 212 East Broughton Street for music, games, kid’s activities, contests and dancing in the street. You can even wear your best 1950’s soda shop attire and enter our costume contest!  In recognition of our 96 years in Savannah, and as a way to thank the community for your long and loyal support, Leopold's will offer ninety-six cent single scoops all day. The shop opens at 11 a.m., the block party starts at noon.  The party continues until 7pm.

Come out and meet our special guest Lenny Munchompolous, star of our brand new children’s book, “Leopold’s New Scoop.”  After a reading of the book by author and soda jerk, Nick Cannon, at 3:30pm, there’ll be a special surprise that the kids won’t want to miss!

This year’s DIRTT Kid’s Zone will feature arts, crafts, games and a drop-off point for school supplies, gently used school uniforms and non-perishable food items for Blessings in a Bookbag (blessingsinabookbag.org).  Drop off your donation and receive a coupon for a BOGO scoop of Leopold’s Ice Cream!

We'll need kids (young and young at heart) to help us blow out the candles and cut the birthday cake at 3 p.m.   Free and fun for the entire family. We'll see you there!
