NTA to Host Annual Tour Operator Retreat in Savannah

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Thursday, August 20th, 2015

The National Tour Association will host more than 150 tour operators in Savannah for its annual Contact conference Aug. 19-22. The tour operator retreat offers members a chance to experience Savannah while networking and attending educational sessions.

“Savannah really looks forward to hosting this elite group of tour planning professionals. With attendees from across the country and around the globe, our plan is to showcase the very best that our visitor experience has to offer while they are in town,” said Joseph Marinelli, Visit Savannah president.

According to NTA’s website, Contact is a “blend of business, education and fun in an intimate setting.” In addition to several informational sessions, tour operators will go on sightseeing tours, attend an opening reception at the Savannah Theatre and the Green-Meldrim House and a closing reception at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force during the three-day conference.

“The overwhelming majority of the attendees at Contact are in a position to recommend Savannah to their future tour groups,” said Mindy Shea, Visit Savannah director of tour and travel sales. “Hosting this conference allows for a great amount of potential business to be sent to Savannah and Tybee Island.”

Attendees will also participate in a beach sweep volunteer effort on Tybee Island’s South Beach Saturday, Aug. 23 from 7:30-10:30 a.m., with Tourism Cares.
