Savannah Orthodontist Named President of State Dental Association

Savannah orthodontist Dr. Thomas Broderick has been named president of the Georgia Dental Association, the state’s leading professional organization representing dentists in Georgia. He succeeds Dr. Doug Torbush, who served as president for the 2014-2015 term. Broderick took office during the association’s annual meeting in Amelia Island, Fla. on July 26.

“I am honored and privileged to be elected president of the Georgia Dental Association,” said Dr. Broderick. “The Association is at an exciting moment in our 156-year history. I look forward to working with our dentist members and other stakeholders as we shape the future of the association for decades to come.”

Under Dr. Broderick’s leadership, the association will implement a long-term strategy to further improve the oral health of all Georgians. Through collaborative efforts with stakeholders, the association will address quality, attainable dental care for all Georgians, as well as escalate oral health education efforts.

Dr. Broderick earned a B.A. degree from Hiram College and holds a D.D.S. degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. After serving three years as an officer in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps and for 22 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve, he retired as a captain. Following active military service, he received his M.S. degree in orthodontics from St. Louis University.

In addition to serving as president of the Georgia Dental Association, Dr. Broderick is president of the Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation based in St. Louis, Mo. and president elect of the Georgia Academy of Dental Practice. He is also an Honorable Fellow of the Georgia Dental Association and member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, College of Diplomates of the American College of Orthodontics, and American Dental Association.

Active in the community, Dr. Broderick is a member of the Rotary Club of Savannah, the Savannah Navy League, the Savannah Striders Running Club, the local Phi Beta Kappa Society and president of the St. James Catholic Church Men’s Club.

Dr. Broderick has practiced in Savannah since 1984. He is currently an orthodontist at Broderick, Dusek & DeLeon.
