Ameris Bank has named Shelly Butler as retail branch team leader of the Stephenson Avenue location in the Savannah area. In this role, Butler will manage the daily operations of the branch, focus on expanding and growing business and consumer portfolios, and work closely with Greater Savannah Market President Austen Carroll.

“Shelly’s extensive experience within the banking industry and her superior customer service skills are an asset to the Ameris Bank team,” says Carroll. “Under Shelly’s leadership, I feel confident our Stephenson Avenue branch will continue to provide exceptional banking services to our consumers and commercial clients.”

Butler has over 20 years of experience within the banking industry, and recently worked as a retail area manager and retail branch manager for SunTrust Banks, Inc.

Shelly received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Armstrong Atlantic University. Throughout her career, Shelly received numerous awards for leadership and performance including the distinguished honor of being named the Georgia Region Retail Top Performer and a member of the 2011 Chairman’s Team.

Shelly is an active member of Islands Assembly on Whitemarsh Island, and also involved as a parent of students at Hesse K8 and Savannah Arts Academy. She has traveled extensively as a participant in foreign and domestic mission work. Shelly and her husband Larry have three children, and have resided in Savannah for the past 20 years.
