Monday, September 28th, 2015

Long-time community volunteer and businesswoman Gaye Reese has been named the 2015 St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations Mary Telfair Women’s Hospital Volunteer of the Year.

Reese is the Executive Vice President of United Community Bank.

Her volunteer activities have supported the legacy of Mary Telfair by helping to ensure that all women in our community have access to health education and life-saving services such as mammography and the Telfair Mammography Fund for uninsured women.

She has been on the committee of the St. Joseph’s/Candler SmartWomen Expo and Luncheon since 2010, serving as chair twice.

She invested many hours into SmartWomen by filling tables, soliciting sponsors, gathering raffle items and hanging banners. She gives whatever amount of time is necessary to make sure that every detail is handled.

Beyond St. Joseph’s/Candler, Reese has volunteered for state and local boards of the March of Dimes, the Historic Savannah Foundation board and as Administrative Board Chair of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church.
