Ogeechee Riverkeeper Appoints New Board Members

Ogeechee Riverkeeper recently announced its new leadership at their Annual Meeting which celebrated ten years of protecting, preserving, and improving the water quality of the Ogeechee River Basin.

Mike English was appointed Chair of the Board of Directors: English is a native of Swainsboro, GA and a 1993 graduate of Georgia Southern University. Mike has worked in the banking industry for nearly 20 years and for the past 8 years he has headed up the Coastal Region of Queensborough National Bank & Trust Company in Savannah. Mike's family owns a farm in Jefferson County bordering Rocky Comfort Creek in the upper Ogeechee watershed, and he lives near the Ogeechee in Savannah giving him a vested interest in both the upper and lower watershed. Mike is married to Ashley and they have two children.

Keith M. Seibert, M.D., MBA, FAAP was appointed Vice Chair: Seibert is currently a pediatric physician at South Coast Health Richmond Hill and has been an active member of the Ogeechee Riverkeeper since 2011. Seibert is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine and has been practicing in our area for a number of years. He has previously served as the Chairman for the Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Health and St. Joseph’s/Candler and is the author of the newly released book Baby Care Anywhere: A Quick Guide to Parenting on the Go.  He enjoys time on the Ogeechee with his wife Heather and their two young daughters.

Ann Hartzell, outgoing board chair and recipient of the first ORK Legacy Award commented, “I can’t imagine anyone more qualified or passionate to lead our organization than these two outstanding men. I know that Mike and Keith, along with the support of the entire board, will continue to lead the Ogeechee Riverkeeper in the right direction.”
