In a partnership with the The Savannah Harbor Foundation, The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa will host a series of gingerbread demonstrations to prepare the community for the 2015 Gingerbread Village Competition Judging on November 23rd.
 
The Westin Savannah Harbor hopes to make this year’s Gingerbread Village its best yet with a new theme “Winter Wonderland”. To do this it is partnering with Savannah Tech to host an instructional event on November 4th at 6pm. This seminar is free and open to the public.  The goal is to make it social function for businesses, amateurs and students to help adult and youth competitors make the most out of their Gingerbread Creations.

Chef Jean Vendeville, from Savannah Tech, creates a magnificent house with patio, decorations and figurines. Light snacks and refreshments provided by Savannah’s Resort.
 
Vendeville, the 2014 American Culinary Federation Chef Educator of the Year, has served as the Culinary Arts department chair and instructor at Savannah Technical College since 2008. He has achieved his ACF lifetime certification as an executive pastry chef and holds a lifetime certification as an executive chef from the Chef Association of America. Born in France, Vendeville received his culinary education in his home country and in Canada. With more than five decades of experience, he has worked as executive pastry chef for the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, Toronto and executive pastry chef for the Ritz-Carlton Montréal, Montreal. In 2012, he won the ACF President’s Medallion, which is the ultimate honor for a lifetime of commitment and service to the standards and excellence ACF exemplifies.  He was also honored as the 2012 Technical College System of Georgia Instructor of the Year.
                  
Each year thousands of visitors make the pilgrimage to the Westin to delight in these culinary creations! The competition includes adult (18 & over) and student (17 & under) divisions, and is open for anyone to participate. The public is welcome to view these displays in The Westin Savannah Harbor lobby November 25 through December 30, 2015.  The event is open to the public but large group visits should schedule their trips in advance.  The Savannah Harbor Gingerbread Village Competition is Savannah's favorite family holiday outing at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa.
