The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia has selected Speros, a full-service technology company headquartered in Savannah, as its technology partner. This partnership is expected to benefit the non-profit organization in annual cost savings of more than $100,000, along with upgrades to its technological capabilities and increased data security.

“Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia has over 80 employees working in more than 15 different locations, who all need to be able to access the same data sources as well as communicate effectively with over 18,000 girls and adults,” said Sue Else, CEO, Savannah. “We felt Speros, having the expertise in telephone communication as well as technology, could make that happen.”

As a result of the partnership, the Girl Scout staff now has full access to all data on the “Speros Cloud” whether they are at their desk or in the field, serving members. The data is stored locally with built-in backups across North America in place.

Speros also negotiated and installed a new Toshiba phone system throughout the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia’s statewide locations and is providing a complete range of support features including full service monitoring, staff assistance and technology updates.

“We work hard to ensure all of our customers have the right products at the best prices, but we take extra care with non-profits, such as the Girl Scouts, to ensure they receive discount plans that carriers might make available to NPOs,” explained Keith Fletcher, chief operating officer at Speros. “Not only do we strive to get them the maximum discount, we look at the larger picture, and determine what they need and what will be the right fit for them. Almost inevitably, we can save NPOs a large quantity of money on their IT needs.”

While figures are still preliminary, Else estimates an annual cost savings of more than $160,000 as a result of the technology partnership.

“Speros has looked out for our best interests, they understand our unique needs and we are proud to align ourselves with a progressive company with a 31-year history founded by a woman,” Else added. “Dollars saved from this partnership will go far in continuing to provide the best possible Girl Scout program for the girls throughout Historic Georgia.”

Speros has been able to partner with several other local groups, offering significant cost savings and technological upgrades to organizations, such as: Greenbriar Children’s Center, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Benedictine Military School and Savannah Christian Preparatory School.

The Speros Cloud was completed in 2011, and is housed within the company’s Savannah data center. Speros IT professionals monitor the system 24/7/365 to ensure that the data center is secure, fully protected, and not susceptible to power outages or glitches. Real time back-ups go to Atlanta, San Diego, and Ontario, Canada.
