Historic Savannah Foundation recently announced that its president and CEO, Daniel Carey, has been elected chair of the National Trust for Historic Preservation Partners Network. The network comprises more than 100 state, regional and local nonprofits representing the top tier preservation organizations across the country.

“As chair of the Partners Network, I am charged with working with peer organizations to protect historic places, advocate for preservation-friendly policies, and promote the economic and social benefits of historic preservation,” Carey said. “In addition to recommending policies and direction, the Partners Network provides a perspective from the field that is helpful to the National Trust for Historic Preservation based in Washington, DC.”

Carey will also become an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees for the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The National Trust for Historic Preservation, a privately funded nonprofit organization, works to save America’s historic places.  Its Board of Trustees oversees and advises the organization on a range of issues—from establishing preservation priorities to marketing and fundraising.

Carey came to HSF in December 2008. Prior to that, he led the Southwest Office of the NTHP in Fort Worth, Texas. A resident of Savannah’s Historic Landmark District, he earned an undergraduate degree in American studies from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in folk studies and historic preservation from Western Kentucky University.
