Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, November 13th, 2015

Santa’s arrival is set for Friday, November 13 at the Savannah Mall, located at 14045 Abercorn Street. He comes just to Savannah at 6:30 p.m., just in time for the lighting of the area’s largest holiday tree in center court of Savannah’s flagship mall. Santa will assist in lighting the 50-foot tree and mall decor covered in 500,000 LED lights.

“Santa will officially kick-off the holiday season with his arrival, and we have lots of surprises in store for families this season,” said Savannah Mall General Manager Phil McConnell.

In addition to Santa setting up shop at the Savannah Mall, the special edition “Rio Grande Train” will make an appearance. The bright blue, yellow and red choo-choo, manufactured in Vincenza, Italy by Zamperla, Inc., seats 28 passengers and features a one-of-a-kind track designed especially for Savannah Mall.

Santa, taking a break from the North Pole, will be at the Savannah Mall through Christmas Eve.

The Savannah Mall also plans on hosting a Caring Santa event on Saturday, December 5 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for children with different abilities who may be sensitive to bright lights and loud music. Each child who meets with Caring Santa will receive a 5x7 photo commemorating his or her special visit. If you have any questions or need more information, please call 912-927-9663.

“All children deserve to have special time with Santa,” said Savannah Mall General Manager Phil McConnell. “The holidays are a time for making memories and magic, and this is one small gesture from Savannah Mall toward that goal."
