Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Thursday, December 10th, 2015

Get ready to help fight pet cancer in Savannah! TailsSpin Pet Food & Accessories, Fleet Feet Sports, Southeast Veterinary Oncology, and Blue Buffalo Pet Food are joining forces for Savannah’s foremost Pet-Friendly 5K Walk/Run through Midtown Savannah. The Third Annual Woof Woof 5k Run/Walk Over Pet Cancer will take place Saturday morning, December 12th, 2015, with the course winding through Habersham Village and Ardsley Park in beautiful Midtown Savannah.

In addition to raising funds and awareness for pet cancer research and treatment, the event will also feature a Pet Memorial and Celebration service, hosted by Fox & Weeks’ Pets at Peace. The Jacob G. Smith Elementary School PTA will host a pancake breakfast with something for both humans and dogs.  Get your Pet’s Portrait with Santa, by Jerry Harris Photography.  Yarn Bombing will also be featured.  And, back by popular demand, the event will feature the Savannah PAWrade, a pet costume contest, being judged by Savannah celebrity judges.

Pet food manufacturers and local vendors will be at the event, with free goodie bags to hand out.  100% of proceeds from the event will benefit the Hope Chest Foundation in Savannah, Blue Buffalo Pet Cancer Research Foundation, Jacob G. Smith Elementary School, and, of course, Savannah’s Pet Rescue Agencies.

Registration and information about the run/walk and the costume contest, as well as donations, can also be found at www.WoofWoofRun.com. On the day of the event, Saturday December 12th, registration begins at 7:30am, with the run/walk slated to start at 9:00am.  The Pancake breakfast will begin at 9:30am.  The Pet Costume contest will begin at 10:30.  Yarn Bombing starts at 10:00am.  Winners of different race categories, as well as the pet costume contest will be announced at 11:30am.
