Savannah Speech and Hearing Center Hires Cathy Nelson as Speech Pathologist

Savannah Speech and Hearing Center, a nonprofit organization serving the speech pathology and audiology needs of the Coastal Empire since 1954, is pleased to welcome Cathy Nelson to their team.

In her position as speech pathologist, Nelson is responsible for providing speech and language treatment for pediatric patients, working to assess, diagnose, and treat disorders linked to speech, language, cognitive-communication, fluency, and other related disorders.

Nelson received a B.S. in Speech Pathology at Oklahoma State University and went on to receive a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology at Phillips University. With over 40 years of experience in speech pathology , including 10 years at the Vanderbilt University Medical School’s Bill Wilkerson Speech and Hearing Center, Nelson has worked with pediatrics in the treatment of mild to severe articulation disorders, dysarthrias, repaired cleft palate, velopharyngeal insufficiency, Childhood Apraxia of Speech and many others.  She is a graduate student supervisor and a presenter of continuing education seminars.  In addition, she is a certified member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association and a licensed speech pathologist in the state of Georgia.

Nelson moved to Savannah in 2012 from Nashville, Tn. to be closer to her daughter and family.
